I found this old bike at a
recycling center
in Eugene, Oregon. It's worn blue paint with a bit of pink showing
through
really add to it's charm. Ken and I fashioned the wire basket out of
some
old fencing that we had. Since then I have brought home
two more
old bikes just waiting for their wire baskets to be added and filled
with
beautiful flowers.
Not to long
ago, Ken and I
were at our
local dump when I spotted another bike. Ken saw it the same time I did
and said "I don't think so", meaning I had better get the thought right
out of my head because it was not going home with us!
This tall good looking guy
is Jack. Our
friends at work had given us a gift certificate to a local nursery as a
wedding gift. I saw Jack and fell in love with him so we brought him
home.
I think he looks very content in with the day lilies and St. Johns
Wort. After a few years of
being
out in the yard,
he is starting to finally get that nice green moss covering that I love.
Yet another piece of
discarded
"junk"
that I brought home. My brother-in-law Joe was going to throw it out
and
my sister Stephi saved it for me.
Filled with my
favorite
pink geraniums
and several trailing vines, a broken old bucket becomes yet another
found
treasure here at Rose Haven.
We have two other
buckets
that are filled
with lavender and flank our front walk. I love to run my hand over the
plants as I walk by and breathe in that calming scent.
