The herb
garden here at
Rose Haven is a work in progress. Though small in size, it
nevertheless
provides enough herbs for our personal use and extra to share with
others.
I would call it more of a kitchen herb garden as all of the herbs
that are in it now are culinary.
The garden is divided into four
pie shapes with a half circle at the top. Each section is separated by
8" cement stepping stones. I have a Sage section, a Thyme section, and
three misc. sections. The entire outside edge of the garden is lined
with
chives. The garden is in a 3' high raised bed built up with
railroad
ties and features a hand made obelisk that we like to grow an old
fashioned yellow climbing rose on.
My beautiful white sage gets bigger every year and this year I was able
to harvest from this very fragrant plant to create the smuge sticks
that I like to use in some of my handfasting ceremonies.
There is just nothing like fresh herbs from your own garden that you
know haven't been sprayed or otherwise come into contact with any type
of chemicals.
