Sicilian Oregano

An excellent culinary variety
that grows into a sturdy bushy plant with an upright growth habit. Easy and  reliable. The flavor is sweeter than the Greek types, and resembles marjoram. Spreads to form a clump 2–4 feet in diameter. Has tall white flowers in  early summer. Cut back
after flowering and new  growth will come from  the base.

Marjoram

Sweet spicy flavor. Pale
green leaves with white
flowers producing seed
clusters like knots. Marjoram grows to a bushy 12", and produces its best tasting
leaves right before it blooms.
It has an oregano-like flavor,
but sweeter, and goes well
with eggs, all kinds of meat, soups or vegetables.
Rosemary

In the past, rosemary was
carried by mourners at funerals
as a symbol of remembrance,
and by brides at their weddings,
as a symbol of fidelity. Greek
scholars wore garlands of
rosemary when they were
taking examinations to improve
their memories and  concentration.

French Tarragon

The true tarragon and one of
the finest culinary herbs.
Aromatic, fragrant leaves are
used in many dishes, salad
dressings, fish and vegetables.
Winter Savory

Strongly flavored deep  greenleaves with slightly  creeping habit. Very good  in bean dishes. Also good
with strong-tasting  vegetabledishes like  brussel sprouts, turnips
and cabbage, and when  cooked with them  keeps down the
strong ordor.

Golden Oregano

An ornamental ground-cover variety that forms a tight
mat of golden leaves, with
the brightest color appearing
during the cooler months.
Has some oregano scent, but
is not really a culinary
variety. Make a beautiful
bright plash in the garden.

 "Rosemary, Lily, Lilac tree; Sweet in the doorways thrive all three;
But the sweetest of them is rosemary"
