A
year of Great Changes....
It's
hard to believe that 2004 is almost half over. So far, it's been a wonderful
year for Kenny and I filled with so many reasons to be thankful. It has
long been a dream of mine to have a shop of my own and this month brings
us several steps closer. We just moved into our new space in Florence and
are in the process of decorating and getting things in order. I love "found"
items and that vintage look and our office reflects that. I wanted a place
where a Bride could come in and feel relaxed as we plan her special day,
and not nervous or stressed. Now we have a place where we can spread our
books out over the table and have a uninterrupted visit with our clients.
The office is in a wonderful spot. Once the old courthouse, it's now being
renovated and turned into office space. It sits right along a small creek
and this time of year the wild Rhododendron's are absolutely beautiful!
Our
space is small, but perfect for us. We plan on adding several new products
in the near future such as our line of custom ring bearer pillows and our
own line of invitations. Plans are in the works for an Open House the first
part of August. Watch for the announcement. There will be plenty of planning
info and free drawings. A great time to come in and see what we are all
about.
The Coelho Wedding...
I have to say that this
wedding
was one that could have been a huge disaster and turned out perfect. Stephi
and Joe live on a ranch a few miles from Long Creek Oregon. Long Creek
is a small town in Eastern Oregon and the Coelho's live about three miles
as the crow files from town. With lots of help from visiting family, we
managed to convert the barn into a great place for dancing and refreshments.
The ceremony was held in a tent just at the barn doors. It was a good thing
that the couple decided to rent the tent. There were over 200 guests and
the day was filled with torrential downpours and strong winds. As you can
see from the photo above, everyone kept their sense of humor (even when
the tent flooded) and it ended up being a lighthearted wedding that fit
the personality of the couple to a "T".
Stephi chose purple and
white for her colors, and a very eclectic mix of "Cowboy meets Cottage
Garden". We used lots of galvanized buckets with purple hydrangea and a
mix of white roses, freesia, and purple lisianthus with some misty blue
for accent. The Bride wore a beautiful halter style dress and she and her
Matron of Honor both carried hand tied bokays of purple tulips.
Stephi and Joe's wedding
was a prefect example of what I tell all of my brides. If you expect a
"perfect" day, you are bound to set yourself up for disappointment. Something
is bound to not go just exactly as you want it. The most important thing
to remember is that you are there to make a commitment to the one you love
and in the end that's all that really matters.
The Choelho wedding
made for some great laughs and a ton of wonderful memories. We wish Stephi
and Joe much love and laughter in the years to come.
Exciting New Company...
I had the extreme pleasure
of looking at a DVD that Shawna of Digital Diaries had put together. It
was amazing. Shawna can take your pictures and video and set them to music
for the most beautiful keepsake. Her prices are very reasonable and the
end product is much better than some photo album that will eventually just
collect dust on the shelf. No just for weddings, Shawna can take any photos
or video's and make them into a wonderful DVD. Visit Shawna at her website
www.digital-diaries.net
and see samples of the great product that she has to offer. |
Always Different....
I had someone
ask me if I ever got bored with doing weddings. How could I? Every wedding
and every Bride and Groom are so different. And they all have such great
love stories to share.
This last
March we did the Authier Wedding. Troy and Sherry wanted to be married
on the first day of Spring, so we went with that theme and used soft spring
colors in the decor and pretty blue butterflies here and there. It was
a small wedding in the conference room of Stafford Inn, but the Spring
flowers made it feel like a garden.
The next three
weddings we have are all very different.
Our June Bride,
Dawnell, is having an elegant wedding here in Florence filled with tons
of red and white roses and a back drop of seven rose filled bokays on tall
stands. I'm excited to see this very unique backdrop come together and
hope to have photo's to share the end of June.
In July, both
of our Brides have chosen outdoor weddings. Mindy and Toby are getting
married Just out of John Day at Lake Creek Lodge. It's a beautiful area
filled with tall Pine trees and fresh air. Their colors are very rich deep
jewel tones and Mindy has decided on Terra-cotta planters and hanging baskets
to line the walk way. Keeping with the Lodge theme, the couple will be
married beneath a handcrafted log arch.
Nicole and Chris
are getting married here on the coast at Wohink lake. It's an amazing place
with a huge yurt that the reception will be held in. Nicole has picked
the calla lilly as her main flower and the accent flowers are shades of
burgundy. With the ceremony being held at the edge of the lake, their photo's
should be breathtaking.
It's exciting
to meet a new bride and see all the wonderful ideas they have to make their
day one of a kind. Come back as the year progresses and see photo's of
all the weddings.
